We spend a lot of time on search engine optimisation (SEO) work for clients. This includes market and key phrase research, changes to sites to make them more search engine friendly, and off page promotion.

If you were to read up on SEO on the net, you'd get the impression it was pretty easy. Modify your page, get some incoming links, and top search engine rankings are yours!

IT'S NOT LIKE THAT! For everything except the most obscure keywords (like "Italyum") you need a methodical approach, and be ready to put in a lot of work - looking through web stats, making site improvements, and promoting the site via other sites, online PR, forums, social networks, social bookmarking...

So any SEO tool that speeds up our work is welcome. We have tried many SEO software packages in the last ten years. Some were decidely Black Hat, (i.e. used questionable practices) some were difficult to use, some were okay.

We have been using the SEO tool called SEO Studio for over 3 years now, and love it. Whilst we do much of our SEO work "by hand" SEO Studio speeds up much of the work we do on sites. It helps with the research part of the process, allowing us to analyse sites in great detail, it helps identify useful resources online such as relevant sites to link to, and it tracks rankings of sites over time.
